From Grid… to Cloud… to Business with BEinGRID

Stockholm, November 25, 2009 – BEinGRID (Business Experiments in GRID) is coming today to a key transition stage. The project financed by the European Commission is ending but the achievements are taken forward in IT-Tude.com. Over the past four years BEinGRID has identified clear business needs to be met by Grid technologies. 25 pilots covering industrial sectors such as finance, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, tourism and health, have focused on solving real problems using different Grid technology solutions for collaboration, performance and enabling new services. The project’s applications and innovative solutions are promoted at the ICSOC/ServiceWave 2009 event held this week in Stockholm. And the results demonstrated show how businesses may profit from distributed computing -- from Grid to Cloud solutions.

BEinGRID Publication Notice
“Approaching the Cloud: Better Business Using Grid Solutions”

Brussels, November 19, 2009 - "Approaching the Cloud: Better Business Using Grid Solutions" is the title of the fresh printed booklet from BEinGRID, the largest ICT project financed by the European Commission.
The publication gives an impressive overview of twenty-five successful case studies covering the industrial sectors from Advanced Manufacturing, Media, Financial, Retail and Logistics, Environment and e-Science, Telecommunication, Tourism, and Agriculture to Health.
The case studies from the different sectors show how businesses may profit from distributed computing -- from Grid to Cloud solutions.
In an economy that often insists on proven business cases to innovate, the booklet offers just that: concrete examples of how and why Grid and Cloud solutions can benefit the described industrial sectors.

GRIA - Grid Middleware Successfully Deployed in BEinGRID for Finance and Tourism

London, June 18, 2009 – DIGIBIZ 2009 is the key international conference where industry and academia focus on innovative e-business and e-commerce technologies for the Future Internet. BEinGRID, as the project driving the implementation and deployment of Grid solutions in industry, could not miss this event. One of the solutions highlighted at DIGIBIZ is GRIA: the Grid middleware used in many of BEinGRID’s most successful pilot projects.

Remote Real-time Rendering on-demand - Now Just a Mouse-click Away

Brussels - November 13, 2008 - A new technology with the potential to dramatically change the way that architects operate will be showcased at the ICT 2008 event on November 25-27. Architects Art & Build and digital rendering developers Mental Images teamed up with engineers and ICT experts from FPMs and CETIC to develop an on-demand service that allows architects to submit designs for rendering from a remote location at a fraction of the time that would be required on a local PC.

BEinGRID – Much More Than Your Everyday Research Project

Brussels, November 12, 2008 - BEinGRID, the largest ICT project financed by the European Commission, will be hosting a booth at the ICT 2008 event in Lyon on November 25-27. This release describes why this project is causing such a stir in research circles.

Between Grid and Cloud Computing - Successful Grid Sessions for Business in Barcelona for BEinGRID

Barcelona, June 12, 2008 – The BEinGRID project, Business Experiments in GRID, held the BEinGRID Industry Days from June 3 to 5 in Barcelona, in co-location with the Open Grid Forum’s 23 edition. The event demonstrated how Grid technologies can be applied by businesses to solve a variety of challenges.

BEinGRID Presents First Project Results and Announces Next Two Million Euros Call for New Business Experiments

BEinGRID Project Launched to Implement and Deploy Grid Solutions across the European Industry

Brussels, September 19, 2006 – BEinGRID, Business Experiments in GRID, is the European Union’s largest integrated project funded by the Information Society Technologies (IST) research, part of the EU’s sixth research Framework Programme (FP6). BEinGRID runs eighteen business experiments designed to implement and deploy Grid solutions in industrial key sectors. Complementing this work, a knowledge and toolset repository will be developed consisting of Grid service components and best practices to support European businesses with the take-up of Grid.
