This was the sixteenth in a series of annual conferences supported by the European Commission, which brought together over 600 delegates from leading commercial, government and research organizations around the world to bridge the Digital Divide by sharing knowledge, experience, lessons learnt and good practice in thematic workshops including Networked, Smart & Virtual Organizations, Collaborative Working Environments, SME issues, etc. that BEinGRID addresses.

EGEE 2006

September 25-28, 2006 - Geneva
The EGEE’06 conference was an event organized by the EGEE project where Grid user communities, decision makers, resource providers and developers discussed how to capitalize on past investments and plan a sustainable future for the Grid. BEinGRID had also been invited and was represented by members of the business activities and the business experiments.
We have made 2 presentations: one presentation at the Plenary Meeting that focused on BEinGRID´s business impact and another one at the Industrial Task Force session that included a general project introduction and the presentation of 3 business experiments, also from a business perspective. This session brought together the industrial partners of EGEE-II and related projects with industry/business focus.

European Grid Technology Days (EGTD)

September 19, 20 - 21, 2006 - Brussels

BEinGRID was represented at the third "European Grid Technology Days" (EGTD) in Brussels.
The public event on 19 September 2006, organized by the European Commission DG INFSO F2, included the launch of BEinGRID as one of the second wave of Grid research projects from IST Calls 5 and 6 of FP6.
This public event was combined with the IST Grid concertation event on September 20-21, which brought together academia, industry and policy makers involved in European Grid activities.
At this occasion, the BEinGRID website (www.beingrid.eu) was officially launched. The press release entitled ‘BEinGRID Project Launched to Implement and Deploy Grid Solutions across the European Industry’ was also distributed to the press and translated in local languages.

UNICORE Summit 2006

BEinGRID’s Business Experiment on grid technologies for the shipbuilding industry was presented by SCAI at the Unicore Summit
The Unicore Summit gave the opportunity to Grid users, developers, administrators, researchers, and service providers to meet and get an inside view of UNICORE, share experiences, and discuss future developments.
